Journal Entry #3 - Weapons?

 Some people assume that they only weapons vampires use are their fangs or their brute strength. You'd be wrong if you thought that. From centuries past, to modern age, vampires have commonly used weapons alongside their vampiric powers. Swords, daggers, scythes, bows, and even guns are used by vampires. As I have stated in previous journals, vampires are quite an arrogant breed, and tend to do anything to win a fight. This includes using a weapon if it seems useful. The only caveat to this, is that vampires cannot carry or use any silver- or silver-plated or infused weapons, as they cause damage to them. 

Growing up, I was taught the art of sword fighting from my father. Once my father passed away my mother continued the sword training but used a silver bladed sword instead. Because of my unique physical composition and DNA, silver doesn't really have much of an effect on me. I'm able to hold it, wear it, and even if it causes a wound, it doesn't really impact me the same way it would a full-blooded vampire. While a deep wound from a silver bladed weapon would be more painful than a normal one, it wouldn't render me almost motionless, like it would any other vampire. Now, while I haven't tested the theory, and don't plan to, I'm sure a silver blade or bullet to the heart would cause life threatening or worse yet death for me. 

As for my personal weapon, I tend to carry and use a set of 2 sliver bladed kodachi. For those unfamiliar with it, a kodachi is a short sword the length being longer than a dagger but shorter than a sword. They were crafted by my mother and the sheaths family heirloom. The sheath is a dark purple color with red butterflies carved along the top of the sheath. My mother was trained in swordsmanship when she was young, and her father gave her the sheaths when she was little. Although she didn't use them much after she set off on her own, she kept the pair of kodachi and after meeting my father, decided to switch the blades with silver ones. I brough the pair of kadachi with me after my mother passed and I decided to set out on my own to search for Akio. 

While I don't carry the kodachi during the day when I am disguised among humans, in the evening when I am out, I do conceal carry them since there is always the potential for not only a vampire, but some sort of mystical being trying pick a fight. If it can be helped, I try to rely on the kodachi in these fights and minimal vampiric power as to not alert any nearby vampires. The few times I did have to go up against vampires, of course there was no choice but to combine using the kodachi and my vampiric powers to overcome them.

In summary, this is all to say, Misa does carry weapons, double silver bladed kodachi, and only uses them when needed. Misa has never hurt a civilian or unarmed person with the kodachi, or fangs for that matter, without reason!
