Introduction Lore ~ Part 2: The Escape

Image
The next evening Roland had made up his mind. He was going to free Yuna and let her run away. Figured he could come up with a reason to convince his father how she had escaped and would just take the brunt of his anger. He just didn't like the idea of her being trapped there. Roland went around to all the working familiars and servants in the castle and gave them tasks that would keep them busy and their eyes off of the cellar. Once they were busy, he went down and unlocked the cell that Yuna was in. He quickly opened the door and told her to step out. "What's going on?" She asked, just staring at him. "My father should be back tomorrow. I'm letting you go. I'll lead you out the back way and take you to the crossroads down the mountain. Then you can find your way back to the village and get what you need and leave the area." Roland responded. He then grabbed Yuna's arm and lead her towards his father's study, where the secret exit was located...

Introduction Lore ~ How it all Started Part 1

Image
As many are aware, I am a true day walker. I'm sure many are wondering how it came about that a vampire of noble descent and a lowly day walker chose to be together. Between journals my father wrote and left after his passing, and the persistent questioning I would do towards my mother. I am able to recount a clear picture of how Akio and myself came to be. Below is the story of Rolan Zaros, 1st in line of the noble vampire house of Kieran and Yuna Endo, a relatively uncommon day walker: It was a typical Friday evening, when Rolan had come to visit his father, Count Zaros at his castle. As the 1st in line and eldest son, he often visited his father's castle to help with family business and attend vampire soirées held at the castle. It was the end of the month, so this would have been the 2nd of usually two visits to his father's castle each month. Unlike his siblings, Zariah his older sister and Danesh his younger brother, Rolan did not live in the castle with his father. ...

Journal Entry #3 - Weapons?

Image
Some people assume that they only weapons vampires use are their fangs or their brute strength. You'd be wrong if you thought that. From centuries past, to modern age, vampires have commonly used weapons alongside their vampiric powers. Swords, daggers, scythes, bows, and even guns are used by vampires. As I have stated in previous journals, vampires are quite an arrogant breed, and tend to do anything to win a fight. This includes using a weapon if it seems useful. The only caveat to this, is that vampires cannot carry or use any silver- or silver-plated or infused weapons, as they cause damage to them.  Growing up, I was taught the art of sword fighting from my father. Once my father passed away my mother continued the sword training but used a silver bladed sword instead. Because of my unique physical composition and DNA, silver doesn't really have much of an effect on me. I'm able to hold it, wear it, and even if it causes a wound, it doesn't really impact me the s...

Journal Entry #2 - Familiars

Image
*~ Familiars~* Before going into what Misa's familiars are, we should first define what a familiar is. By definition, traditionally a familiar is a servant of a vampire. Familiars are gifted a tiny amount of the host vampire's power, often through a few droplets of the vampire's blood, which causes the receiver and the vampire to create a linked bond. Depending on the vampire's nobility and their intention, this familiar can become a servant that bends to the will of the vampire, to someone who is under a spell only when around the vampire. This bond can be one of servitude, lust, friendship, power, or whatever the host vampire fancies. Now, as we established, a familiar is gifted power from the host vampire, depending on the purpose in which the vampire chose to turn a person into a familiar. Sometimes, the power can be minimal, such as in the case of servitude, it could be the power of more strength, to do physical labor, or less hunger. In the cases of friendship or...

Journal Entry #1 Lessons From Father and Personal Research on Vampire Ancestry and Hierarchy

Image
On this day I thought it would be wise to transcribe everything I remember my father teaching me about my heritage and the history of vampires. Additionally, I thought it would be wise to combine that knowledge with what I have learned over the centuries I have lived learning about my background while searching for my brother.  From both what father had gone over and my research over the years, what seems to be a "known" unknown is how vampires exactly came into existence. What is known is that vampires appeared sometime around 100 CE. Before then, there was no record ever recorded of anything vampire like. According to father. A singular person is whom all vampires share a lineage with. But there has never been concrete evidence as to how or where he came from. The known is that he created followers and thus the 10 ancient vampire houses were created. Although most humans would say the first vampire was Dracula, vampires know that the first was Ambrogio. From him game the ...

Introduction Lore ~ Chapter 1 Memories

Image
My earliest memories that I have are of my early childhood, growing up living on a homestead isolated from the nearest surrounding towns. I lived on that isolated homestead, tucked away in a dense forest with my mother, father, and little brother in order to be away from preying eyes. Even at the young age, of three, I knew we were different from the townsfolk we would pass by and interact with whenever Akio, my younger brother, and I went to town with mother to buy supplies. My father never went on shopping trips with us or came out of the home during the day. It was always only with mother. My father was a vampire. A vampire of noble descent. My mother was a daywalker. A rare species of half vampire and half human. She could walk in the sun, father couldn't. But even at three, I could sense that my brother and I were different. Different from mother and different from father. We could walk in the sun; we could go between being a vampire and being a human with ease. We could tol...
